SUMMARY
The Construction Superintendent is responsible for the organization, direction, supervision and coordination of construction activities for a large multi-discipline project in Wichita Falls TX managed by the Capital Projects and Engineering (CPE) group. The person in this role must have served as a construction lead for large projects, and be able coordinate the construction activities, the effective implementation of project systems, and ensuring that the project execution is consistent with cost, schedule, and overall project requirements.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
May include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Responsible for project specification conformity, monitoring and implementation of safety programs, project conformance to national, local and/or company building codes and the maintenance of accurate records.
- Responsible for all construction activities and task accomplishment in an efficient and timely manner on the assigned project.
- Monitors overall manpower utilization, effectiveness and productivity.
- Monitors contractor(s) performance relative to budget, schedules and deadlines.
- Implements and enforces site/work rules.
- Reviews project’s plans, specifications, drawings and schedules to coordinate work priorities.
- Coordinates and work with engineering services / construction supplier(s) to recommend solutions to construction discrepancies.
- Participates in the development of project execution strategies as directed
- Acts as primary point of contact for communication for all construction project field activities between project team and construction contractor(s)
- Supports development and implementation of project estimates to track and forecast construction cost and schedule
- Ensures effective interface and interaction among and construction contractor(s) and engineering services contractor
- Ensures that the construction activities are performed in accordance with applicable construction procedures, codes, and regulations, including applicable CPE Functional Procedures
- Assesses the effectiveness of applicable processes and conducts periodic reviews to determine any necessary enhancement and update
- Ensures that the integrity of construction management practices is maintained whenever changes are planned and implemented
- Conducts periodic meetings to review and evaluate project performance of construction management activities
- Actively participates in design reviews and constructability reviews conducted by engineering services / construction supplier(s)
- Gathers relevant project data to furnish periodic reports issued by the CPE group
- Supports construction planning, scheduling and resourcing activities for the assigned project
- Participates, as required, in internal quality audits of construction management activities and ensures that CPE processes deliver their intended results
- Interfaces with other functional leads promotes internal cooperation to meet project objectives
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in construction related discipline or demonstrated combination of equivalent education and experience.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in a construction management role
- Thorough knowledge of project management best practices, methodologies and techniques
- Experience in construction coordination and oversight
- Thorough understanding of engineering construction packages including mechanical (PFDs, PIDs and ISOs), equipment drawings, E&I drawings and civil/structural drawings.
- Expertise with manufacturing and process equipment
- Experience with large-scale multi-discipline construction projects, including large industrial buildings construction projects
- Ability to work as part of a team across organizational lines
- Good analytical skills and detail oriented
- Organizational skills required to simultaneously manage multiple activities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and effective interpersonal skills
