Job Description


The position is responsible for managing product testing, product certifications, and building code compliance for Westlake Royal Windows. 


May include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Responsible for maintenance of product certifications across WRW- all locations and all product brands
  • Coordinate activities with Engineering and Sales to determine and explain requirements for building codes and/or certifications
  • Responsible for facilitation of technical project planning and execution of certification approvals for North America
  • Oversee and execute testing activities for new and existing products to ensure products meet applicable standards and building code requirements.  Provide recommendations and guidance for improvement opportunities and problem solving
  • Act as principal contact with 3rd party engineers, test labs and Certification Bodies for assigned projects and product categories
  • Actively represent Westlake Royal Windows in industry organizations on technical and code related matters
  • Foster development of subject matter expertise of building products, product testing and certification within direct reports
  • Responsible for coordinating with marketing teams to keep all marketing collateral up to date with current certifications- including web sites, intranet, literature, packaging, etc.
  • Lead, manage and develop subject matter experts in technical and code knowledge; and provide expertise to internal and external customers
  • Monitor the marketplace, technology, code compliance activities/needs as well as market trends.  Looks for external best practices within WRW and synergies with outside agencies
  • Provides expert advice and guidance to ensure product certification goals align with the WRW product strategies, and seeks out new certifications that allow more favorable product positioning and applications
  • Responsible for the collection, maintenance and distribution of appropriate SDS, Product Information Sheets and other safety documents related to product responsibilities
  • Provides guidance on industry compliance requirements and appropriate application of testing standards, and ensure product certifications and performance meet market requirements
  • Educates building officials, engineers and architects on WRW products, installation requirements and technical details
  • Develops technical and business processes that enable effective use of resources and allow repeatability of end results.  Coordinate activities that streamline processes and eliminate waste and inefficiencies
  • Must be able to travel via car and airplane to a variety of locations, including international locations.  Approximate over-night travel time is up to 30%
  • Performs any additional responsibilities or tasks as assigned
  • Responsible for direct reports across WRW business units in office and/or remote working environments


  • Bachelor’s Degree required, engineering disciplines preferred
  • Must be a self-starter with seven (7) plus years of quality and/or certification experience relevant to windows.
  • Proven track record of success in product certifications
  • Holds self and others accountable to create results through disciplined execution, particularly in a team environment
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional and specialized teams.
  • Excellent written and oral communication and presentations skills
  • Advanced skill in understanding building products applications and building code conditions of use.
  • Proven ability to interact and communicate with persons of various backgrounds in order to provide technical support for products, communicate technical topics to non-technical people and diffuse tense situations.
  • Must be able to work effectively and positively with all organizational levels.
  • Ability to read, interpret and comprehend technical documents such as: installation instructions, architectural blueprints, construction plans, product specifications and building codes
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office and web-based applications required
  • Possess strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to simultaneously manage multiple project assignments


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.  The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.


The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate as normally based in an office.  Some of the work may be required in the operating units which can require usage of required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, etc.  May also result in exposure to outside elements and may require usage of stairs and elevators.  Travel including air travel or auto travel may occasionally be required.
