Extruder Operator Assistant - 12 HR OPM Shift 7p-7a
Job Description
The primary purpose of this position will be the start-up, shutdown, running and maintaining, the downstream extrusion operations. The goal of this position will be to assist the extruder technicians in keeping the extrusion lines running continuously and efficiently, while producing a product that meets or exceeds our customer’s expectations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Set-up downstream equipment.
- Handle raw material and finished product.
- Testing of product to ensure it meets Westlake standards.
- Assist in minor maintenance when needed.
- Assist the Extruder Technician when need or asked.
- 5S of the extrusion lines
- Learn the extruder operation to be able to back up the technician.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- 1 year of manufacturing experience.
- Knowledge of manufacturing operations
- Mechanical aptitude
- Be able to work a 12 hour shift.
- Be able to pass a forklift test and maintain the required forklift license.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
The employee should have the following:
- High school or GED equivalent.
- 1-3 years relevant experience
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
The employee should possess the ability to:
- Prolong standing or in stationary position
- Complete repetitive movements such as typing
- Be exposed to sounds or noise levels that maybe uncomfortable
- Complete repetitive movements
- Wear all required personal protective equipment (hearing, vision and hardhat protection)
- Lift/move/transport items up to 50 pounds
- Ability to move or traverse about the facilities
- Must be able to ascend/descend stairs or ladders
- Ability to work around dust, chemicals, and other substances, and in various environmental conditions
