Job Description

  The primary purpose of this position will be the start-up, shutdown, running and maintaining, the downstream extrusion operations. The goal of this position will be to assist the extruder technicians in keeping the extrusion lines running continuously and efficiently, while producing a product that meets or exceeds our customer’s expectations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Set-up downstream equipment.
  • Handle raw material and finished product.
  • Testing of product to ensure it meets Westlake standards.
  • Assist in minor maintenance when needed.
  • Assist the Extruder Technician when need or asked.
  • 5S of the extrusion lines
  • Learn the extruder operation to be able to back up the technician.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • 1 year of manufacturing experience.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing operations
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Be able to work a 12 hour shift.
  • Be able to pass a forklift test and maintain the required forklift license.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

The employee should have the following:

  • High school or GED equivalent.
  • 1-3 years relevant experience

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

The employee should possess the ability to:

  • Prolong standing or in stationary position
  • Complete repetitive movements such as typing
  • Be exposed to sounds or noise levels that maybe uncomfortable
  • Complete repetitive movements
  • Wear all required personal protective equipment (hearing, vision and hardhat protection)
  • Lift/move/transport items up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to move or traverse about the facilities
  • Must be able to ascend/descend stairs or ladders
  • Ability to work around dust, chemicals, and other substances, and in various environmental conditions
