SUMMARY

The HRBP Sr. serves as the primary company resource with regard to maintaining the day-to-day operations of the HR Department in Longview, TX, and supporting all human resources functions for the location.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

May include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Demonstrates strong safety culture through personal behavior and commitment to environmental, health & safety. 
  • Serves as a trusted advisor, developing and maintaining collaborative working relationships with Longview, TX leadership team, HR colleagues, and employees.
  • Represent the Longview, TX site on the Region 1 HR Leadership Team and within the larger PEM HR team.
  • Responsible for supervising HR staff at Longview, TX site.
  • Responsible for coordinating and leading the annual HR cycle of activities for the site.  This includes, but is not limited to, the annual performance and compensation cycles, wage and benefits reviews, and talent reviews.  Assist with and/or lead select initiatives as requested across PEM sites.
  • Talent Acquisition: Work with management to develop job descriptions, personnel requisitions and job postings for available positions. 
    • Facilitate the job posting, interview, and hiring process through the Workday Recruiting HRIS system and ensure steps are completed in a timely manner.
    • Communicate to applicants through Workday Recruiting. 
    • Schedule assessments for candidates as appropriate.
    • Schedule and coordinate interviews.
    • Prepare and make offers for positions.
    • Onboard new employees using HRIS system and site practices. 
    • Coordinate new employee orientation.
  • Employee Relations:
    • Stay updated on all company policies in order to provide guidance to employees as required. 
    • Coordinate and conduct workplace investigations as needed.
    • Maintain personnel files.
    • Termination Process: Terminate employees in HRIS system - ensure notification of termination is communicated to appropriate entities as detailed on Offboarding Paperwork; conduct exit interview and complete Offboarding paperwork, and upload into Workday HRIS system.   
    • Absence Management:  Serve as company representative and a central point of contact and coordinator of disability information for Longview.  Coordinate explanation of benefits and FMLA notification to employees on disability absences and personal leaves of absence.  Work with Westlake Corporate Benefits and Payroll to ensure accurate absence information is input into HRIS system.  Utilize Applicant Database and HRIS systems to keep accurate records and files.  Serve as site contact during annual benefits enrollment.
  • Track and maintain workforce metrics for the site:
    • Maintain Longview Headcount for Plant Manager.  Provide monthly report (Excel spreadsheet) which details hiring, terminations, transfers, etc. of all personnel at the Longview site.
    • Responsible for reporting requested data and information for Quarterly Business Review, annual budgeting process, and workforce planning processes.
    • Track and report as appropriate on overtime, absenteeism, open positions, and other metrics as required.
  • Timekeeping and Pay:  Responsible for accurate timekeeping and payroll execution for the site.  Serve as backup payroll administrator as necessary.
  • Recordkeeping and Reporting:
    • Manage Workday system entries.
    • Tracking, reporting and maintenance of personnel requisitions, job postings, hires, terminations and leaves of absence. Maintain job applicant information in Hiring Portal, including all candidates interviewed and hired.
  • HRIS database super user and contact for employees, supervisors, management.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field of study
  • Professional in Human Resources (PHR) and/or SHRM-CP certification a plus
  • Minimum of 8 years of human resources experience with prior recruitment experience required.
  • Demonstrated ability to serve as a strategic partner to managers and leaders.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of federal and state employment laws
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills; detail oriented
  • Able to work with people in various levels within Westlake, particularly in a team environment.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite and experience in Workday preferred; ability to learn new databases and applications.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.

Flexible schedule: Option to work a 9/80 compressed work schedule, which allows an employee to work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday and take every other Friday off.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.  The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and infrequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus, as well significant as use of computer monitors and cell phones.   Significant digital dexterity, e.g. using computer keyboard is required.  Use of oral communication to perform work is required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate as normally based in an office.  Some of the work may be required in the operating units which can require usage of required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, etc.  May also result in exposure to outside elements and may require usage of stairs and elevators.  Travel including air travel or auto travel may occasionally be required.
