Job Description

The Human Resources Business Partner is responsible for leading, coordinating, and supporting human resources activities at the site level.  Activities include performance management, resolution of employee issues, communication of corporate policies and procedures, overseeing and/or providing training and educational programs, supporting management in the formulation and administration of policies and partnering with/advising managers/supervisors on human resources matters.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

May include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Counsel functional heads, plant managers, supervisors, and employees on various human resources activities to include policies and procedures, benefit plans, job-related concerns and issues, and interpersonal relationships with peers and supervisors.
  • Administers activities related to corporate and plant employment practices.  Assist with recruiting, screening, interviewing, hiring, and promoting of employees. 
  • Advises and assists functional leaders, plant managers, and supervisors with employee relations issues, complaints, and discipline, including terminations.  Ensures discipline is administered fairly and consistently.
  • Prepares employees for assignments by establishing and conducting orientation, training, and development programs for salaried employees. Manages annual performance, compensation, and talent review processes for assigned groups.
  • Assist site and HR management in developing and executing employee development plans.
  • Assist site and HR management in talent planning and performance management initiatives, ensuring a strong pipeline of future leaders.
  • Conducts human resources-related training.
  • Oversees the administration of compensation, benefits, vacation, sick leave, and absence programs for employees.
  • Works with Total Rewards to complete compensation surveys, job evaluations, promotions, or adjustments to pay.
  • Participate in projects as assigned that could benefit the HR function across several sites or business units.
  • Comply with all Company policies and procedures
  • Supports Company goals of continuous improvement and operational excellence at strategic and tactical levels including reviewing opportunities for improvement or communicating ideas to management, as well as active participation on project teams
  • Any additional duties and tasks as required.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Relations, Labor Relations, Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field. SHRM or HRCI certified professional preferred.
  • A minimum of seven years of progressive HR experience with exposure to compensation, performance management, talent management, and employee or labor relations. Three or more years’ experience in HR at an industrial or manufacturing facility.  A current, valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card is required.
  • Successful candidates must satisfy background screening, including motor vehicle record screening, drug testing & pre-employment physical requirements before starting work.
  • General knowledge of laws/regulations pertaining to benefit administration in the U.S.
  • Experience using Workday preferred
  • Ability to research/resolve problems or issues in a timely manner
  • Ability to work independently to resolve issues or problems on a day-to-day basis

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.  The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, as normally based in an office.  Some of the work may be required in the operating units, which can require usage of required PPE, including safety glasses, hearing protection, etc.  May also result in exposure to outside elements and may require the use of stairs and elevators.  Travel, including air travel or auto travel, may occasionally be required.
