Job Description
SUMMARY
Westlake is offering an opportunity to apply your experience and skills as a Maintenance Mechanic based in Longview, Washington. The Maintenance Mechanic repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment such as pumps, blowers, piping systems, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, production machines and equipment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
May include, but are not limited to, the following:
Perform job duties consistent with written job instructions
Perform standard pump rebuilds
Use FRP pipe wrap repair kit to perform emergency repairs on FRP and CPVC lines
Perform standard fabrication techniques
Replace flanged and threaded valves and gasket material selection
Cut carbon and stainless-steel plate, sheet, and mesh
Build stairs, awnings, and other enclosures
Perform basic alignment of rotating equipment
Must perform rigging safety, including inspection, shackles, etc.
Perform basic welds in carbon and stainless-steel using rod and wire feed process
Perform troubleshooting of centrifugal and positive displacement pumps
Machine work including lathe (shafts), milling and weld/other repairs
Learn the process of rebuilding and changing a cell including installing cell switch and jumper assembly
Must be proficient in the use of all equipment used in the threading of pipe
Must be proficient in pipe preparation for all welding processes
Measure, plan, and sketch isometric drawings for the purpose of fabricating piping
Build from prints; advanced skills including drywall and framing
Perform basic laser alignment of rotating equipment
Build forms, pours concrete, grouts and install pump bases from print
Fulfill on-call requirements for the mechanical department
Maintain a high level of safety performance. Prioritize safety over other objectives
Display principle and discipline in adhering to plant policies, processes, and procedures
Communicate effectively to employees at all levels of the organization
Follow through on commitments to other departments
Interact with coworkers in a polite and professional manner
Develop and maintain good working relationships with contractors and consultants
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Must have a High School Diploma or the equivalent (GED)
Minimum of 2 years of experience as a journeyman or millwright required
Must hold a current journeyman’s certification or millwright's certification from an approved Apprenticeship Training Program
Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US markets. The base pay for this position is $45.08 per hour. This range is based on relevant market data in our lowest and highest geographic markets. Pay is based on several factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, experience and skillset. Westlake is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, sign on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package (also to include a full range of medical and other benefits.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate as normally based in an office. Some of the work may be required in the operating units which can require the usage of required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, etc. May also result in exposure to outside elements and may require usage of stairs and elevators. Travel including air travel or auto travel may occasionally be required.
