SUMMARY

Assist the plant in providing the necessary maintenance resources and record keeping that is required to increase plant productivity, assist in maintenance work preparations to improve work efficiencies, and increase plant performance.  Responsible for maintaining production equipment availability and performance at satisfactory levels through the planning, scheduling, coordinating, and reporting of repair activities. Assure resources are available and adequate to complete these tasks.  Preparation of reports, metrics, and other tracking tools will allow this employee to succeed. The Maintenance Planner Scheduler will support all policies, goals, and objectives of the company, and will represent the company in a knowledgeable and professional manner.    

Salary Range; $70,000 to $87,000.00

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

May include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Use CMMS to develop daily work schedule to secure adequate resources to complete preventative, predictive and planned Maintenance activities.
  • Audit assignments and resources to ensure repair schedules and performance expectations are met. This includes maintenance staff, materials, documents, work orders and necessary approvals to perform work as planned.
  • Responsible to maintain all plant equipment records in CMMS and ensure all work both planned and unplanned is documented.
  • Support, implement and manage initiatives from the Westlake Reliability Team as needed.
  • Process and manage purchase requisitions for parts and services needed to support maintenance activities.
  • Manage maintenance spare parts inventory and records in CMMS.
  • Track shipments of repair parts or locate in stock; deliver to appropriate location or individual as needed.
  • Enter all applicable supplier information into CMMS system.
  • Ensure all labor hours, materials, and necessary notes associated with the work are accurately recorded in CMMS system.
  • Coordinate upcoming project needs and plans with Maintenance Superintendent
  • Order parts necessary to complete the job planned and expedite parts if necessary to meet the priority placed on the work request.
  • Plan all maintenance activities to be completed during scheduled production downtime under the direction of the Maintenance Superintendent.
  • Communicate maintenance work schedule to operations and maintenance supervision. Gain alignment of schedule and ensure compliance.
  • Arrange and coordinate outside resources / services as needed.
  • Provide input to management and suggest improvements for efficiency.
  • Evaluate and analyze equipment history and predictive maintenance data and trends to assist in the anticipation of plant maintenance needs.
  • Responsible for notifying Maintenance Superintendent of any problems or issues with inventory, planning and scheduling.
  • Maintain hot work permit files.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.
  • Support all company safety, health & environmental programs/policies. Be accountable for the performance of these programs in the Maintenance Department.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Requires a High School Diploma
  • Associates degree in technical field preferred
  • 2 years’ experience in production, and/or manufacturing
  • 2 years’ experience planning & scheduling
  • Must have valid driver’s license
  • Proficiency with Windows based software (specifically Excel, Word, and Outlook)
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) in a corporate environment
  • Ability to operate well in a team environment.
  • Experience with inventory management and labor and material planning
  • Ability to recognize opportunity for process improvement
  • Experience with CMMS Software preferred
  • General understanding of repair parts, electrical, and mechanical equipment preferred
  • Knowledge of Worksafe BC regulations standards and requirements preferred

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.  The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position has a transitioning work environment.  Office/computer, manufacturing plant and outdoor environments are normal.  This is a salaried position which may require the occasional shift beyond 8.5 hours. The noise level in the plant environment is usually high, as normal for a manufacturing plant.  Some of the work in the operating units may require usage of required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, steel toe shoes, fall protection, hard hats, etc.
