SUMMARY

  • This is a multi-craft position requiring thorough working knowledge of mechanical and electrical equipment, including auxiliary parts and components, as well as basic knowledge of electricity. This position will be troubleshooting, repairing and improving a variety of equipment; such as material blowers, extruders, chilled water systems, compressed air systems, piping, metal fabrication, plastic compound mixing/blending system, and a plastic grinder.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

May include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Must work safely and maintain a safe, clean work environment, follow arch flash and lockout-tagout procedures, electrical safety work program, and perform available work as required by the supervisor.
  • Requires extensive experience in industrial or heavy commercial maintenance.
  • Must be capable of installing, maintaining, repairing, and adjusting mechanic/electrical components, controls and equipment.
  • Must be able to troubleshoot, locate and repair mechanical/electrical malfunctions, utilizing proper tools and equipment. 
  • Must be familiar with AC/DC motor replacement.
  • Must be familiar with machine shop equipment for fabrication and repairs of components and equipment; must have a working knowledge of lubricants and their uses.
  • Must have basic knowledge of electricity; the ability to check for blown fuses, opens or shorts in wiring.
  • Must perform available to work weekends and off shifts as needed.
  • Responsible for keeping work area clean, for working in a safe manner following company policies, rules, and for reporting all potentially hazardous working conditions or equipment.
  • Must be able to use a computer to track, document equipment problems, submit/review, and close work orders, PMs, and etc.
  • Must be able to perform regular preventative maintenance and work orders as part of daily activities and as assigned.
  • Must be able to perform general facilities maintenance as needed. 
  • All other duties as assigned by management.
  • Performs any additional responsibilities or tasks as needed
  • This role does not have direct or indirect supervision responsibilities of Westlake or contract personnel.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma and a minimum of 5 years’ experience in Industrial Maintenance or Pipe Extrusion.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Must be physically able to access all equipment; must be physically and mentally capable of working at heights up to 70 feet. 
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds. 
  • Must be able to see, hear, smell, drive a forklift and participate in the maintenance call out schedule.
  • Must have mathematics ability and be able to use measuring equipment including but not limited to dial calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and depth gauges. 
  • Must be able to read and to communicate in both written and verbal form. 
  • This job requires frequent stooping, bending, standing, kneeling, reaching, climbing, pulling, pushing, crouching, walking and lifting.  May require crawling and twisting.
  • Must be able to wear safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety shoes.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and risk of electrical shock.  The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, extreme heat, and vibration.  The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places.  The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Hourly Wage Range: $32.14 to $41.23

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US markets. The pay range is based on relevant market data in our lowest and highest geographic markets. Pay is based on several factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, experience, and skillset. Westlake is a total compensation company. Depending on the position offered, sign on payments, and other forms of compensation may be offered as part of a total compensation package (also to include a full range of medical and other benefits).
