SUMMARY

The Manager, Logistics Services and Analytics leads a team of three to five logistics professionals and is responsible for the effective execution of the logistics and commercial related duties detailed below. Other activities include team and talent development, performance management and monthly reporting to relevant business units.  The position is key in identifying opportunities and providing recommendations on logistics process improvement solutions, including warehousing and packaging optimization for both HIP and PEM areas.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

May include, but are not limited to, the following:

Direct auditing and processing of all Supply Chain invoices associated with the movement, packaging, and storage of Westlake products.  This effort is envisioned to be a combination of Logistics team work and coordination with Accounting and Accounts Payable. Create and monitor metrics around Logistics cost and process performance.  Use those metrics to modify/improve process efficiency.    Process Supply Chain invoices for payment

Audit, code, correct, and, where needed, work with the logistics teams to negotiate final charges with the supplier to reach an accurate, timely settlement.

Dispute and document erroneous rates from carriers

Run, review, and maintain aging reports for all suppliers and review with management team monthly

Review DOA to ensure efficiency, effectiveness and remove spurious approvers for Logistics’ Cost Centers

Warehousing

Work to analyze and optimize Westlake’s North American warehousing process.  Evaluate and recommend options for 3rd party, own and plant site warehouse optimization.

Assist, warehousing and packaging supervisor with managing packaging supplies and agreements as required.

Direct and manage quarterly audits on packaging supplies and warehouse procedures.

Work with Logistics functional leaders, accounting and SBU’s to insure accurate maintenance of all ERP and TMS Master Data relevant to Logistics. Supplier Claims Processing (Lading & Equipment)

Manages the collection of data and prepares processes and registers claims with suppliers for recovery of overcharges, losses and damages occasioned during the transport, storage and manipulation of Westlake products.

Maintain claims records

Work with AR to correctly apply cash when received

Manage Logistics internal audit reporting and interface along with ISO Quality Program. Leads performance management process with direct reports.

Sets team goals and objectives and measures performance.

Prepares developmental and training plans for direct reports.

Evaluates performance and semi-annual performance reviews.  Makes recommendations for salary and advancement.

Comply with all Company policies and procedures. Any additional responsibilities or tasks as assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • B.S. Degree (business, logistics or accounting preferred) and 5 years progressive experience including exports, warehousing and packaging.  Some operational background and understanding is desirable. 
  • Leadership capabilities, including strong communication skills, talent management and development, and cross-functional team leadership.
  • Advanced knowledge, skills and capabilities in data analysis.  ERP and TMS experience is highly desired.
  • Strong collaboration, facilitation, organization, interpersonal, and excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong computer skills, with good working knowledge of all standard company applications (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Self-directed and motivated

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.  The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Additionally, this position must make general decisions requiring judgement and perform activities requiring sustained concentration.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The noise level in the work environment is sometimes moderate when working in an office.  Travel including air travel or auto travel may occasionally be required.
