SUMMARY

The Operations Maintenance Coordinator (OMC) is responsible for the coordination of operations and maintenance activities and is the one point of contact between operations and maintenance.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

May include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Screen work requests to determine validity, urgency, and general scope and approve/revise/reject as appropriate.  Also write work requests as needed.

  • Identify, escalate, and continuously track any urgent work requests to ensure timely completion including threats to safety, environment, and production.

  • Keep up to date on all open maintenance work orders to develop planning priorities, weekly maintenance schedule, and track the progress of critical work orders including critical PMs and threats to safety and production.

  • Determine if and when equipment can be safely shut down and locked out to perform work, and communicate upcoming work scope to shift supervisors for proper preparation.

  • Develop equipment preparation plans for large-scale maintenance work orders (tank/vessel inspections and repairs).

  • Act as liaison to communicate current work order status between operations and maintenance, and communicate impact of upcoming work on any impacted process.

  • Work with maintenance, engineering, and operations to troubleshoot equipment.

  • Determine priority and scope of work orders to be completed during short planned and unplanned outages

  • Work with operations, engineering, and maintenance to prepare for plant turnaround events.

  • Conduct weekly work management meeting with prepared reports from SAP reviewing preventative maintenance backlog, corrective maintenance backlog and metrics.

  • Maintain knowledge of process equipment and operation to aid decision making in work prioritization and planning.

  • Work with Cell room Engineer to support cell renewal process and cell replacements to ensure adequate parts and maintenance time is allocated.

  • Work with production engineers to identify potential cost savings projects.

  • MOC coordinator for small maintenance-related changes.

  • MDG user for operations group

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • B.S. in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or 10 years of experience in production.

  • Minimum 2 years of industry experience desired (with a Bachelor’s degree), preferably in a PSM covered, continuous chemical manufacturing process facility

  • Has the ability to apply and interpret statistical tools and applications for the optimization of large systems and processes

  • Strong computer skills required

  • Process Safety Management experience desired

  • Strong communication skills; both verbal and written are required

  • SAP experience preferred

  • Chlor-alkali experience a plus

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US markets. The range for this position is $90,000 to $145,000 . This range is based on relevant market data in our lowest and highest geographic markets. Pay is based on several factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, experience and skillset. Westlake is a total compensation company. PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.  The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate as normally based in an office.  Some of the work may be required in the operating units which can require usage of required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, etc.  May also result in exposure to outside elements and may require usage of stairs and elevators.  Travel including air travel or auto travel may occasionally be required.
