Job Description
SUMMARY:
- Operates North Unit for the production, separation, purification, reprocessing and drying of Vinyl Chloride Monomer, EDC, and anhydrous HCL; Thermal destruction of chlorinated organic process vent streams; Loading, unloading, sampling, storage, transfer of Caustic Soda, Muriatic Acid, Kerosene, EDC, Vinyl Chloride Monomer, Chlorine, Intermediate feedstock (Catoxid) and anhydrous HCL.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operates equipment for the production, separation, purification, reprocessing and drying of Vinyl Chloride Monomer, EDC, and anhydrous HCL; Thermal destruction of chlorinated organic process vent streams; loading,unloading, sampling, storage, transfer of Caustic Soda, Muriatic Acid, Kerosene, EDC, Vinyl Chloride Monomer, Chlorine, Intermediate feedstock (Catoxid) and anhydrous HCL.
- Cleans strainers and flame arrestors containing hazardous process solids, and packing materials. Places contents in a DOT approved hazardous waste storage drum; labels, and transports drums to the onsite hazardous drum storage area
- Provide surveillance of the EDC/CHLORINE barge dock when barges are not being loaded or unloaded.
- Complete appropriate paperwork and inspection for shipment of tank cars, and pipeline transfers to insure compliance with DOT regulations.
- Maintains housekeeping in Unit and cleans up after job tasks and properly disposes of waste materials. Tools and equipment are returned to normal storage.
- Completes other routine or assigned duties as necessary to meet EDC/VCM department production goals in a safe, environmentally sound, and cost effective manner.
- Request Maintenance prepare equipment and signs in and out Maintenance workers.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Four year college degree
