Production Superintendent
Job Description
SUMMARY
Supervise, direct, and develop production leadership personnel in the safe and effective utilization of the plant's manufacturing facilities. Produces those products to the company's and customer's specifications according to production schedules.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
May include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Comply with all Company policies and procedures.
- Perform and promote the use of 5-Why program for root cause problem solving.
- Oversee the administration of the Safety Program for production personnel; including, but not limited to, conducting safety training, production meetings, inspections, reporting, incident investigation, and follow-up.
- Recommend alterations and redesign of equipment through use of root-cause analysis as they become either obsolete, or in need of alteration or redesign.
- Direct, supervise, and develop shift supervisors to meet or exceed goals and objectives such as production output, scrap rates, material utilization, and rework usage. Also recommend promotions, demotions and disciplinary action of subordinates.
- Direct, supervise, and develop the personnel within their responsibility with regard to the quality of the product to standards, to include testing and record keeping.
- Attend Production Meetings as required.
- Responsible for the total housekeeping of plant during the work shift and enforcing all housekeeping policies.
- Complete Task Safety Observations and safety audits.
- On call 24/7
- Any other duties assigned.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required, a bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- A minimum of five years of experience working in a supervisory role in production, QC, or maintenance or three years as a plant engineer is required.
- Experience in a compounds manufacturing facility is preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and work on a computer, stand; use hands, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to walk; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 5 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Manufacturing environment includes: dust, outdoor temperatures, high noise levels.
