JOB SUMMARY 

The Superintendent-Quality reports to the Plant Manager and is responsible for carrying out goals and KPI’s in support of the Westlake manufacturing business. The Superintendent-Quality will provide and manage technical and quality resources to ensure that products meet all code and consistency requirements. The position is aligned to provide our customer an experience second to none, transforming the supply chain, being performance obsessed, leveraging the brand and fostering employee engagement. The success of this job will be measured by operational excellence in quality systems, quality improvements, and critical fitness for use criteria, and compliance to regulatory requirements. 

Can you lead and transform a local team of quality professionals to ensure that all manufactured products meet or exceed our quality standards? Your ability to ensure quality control and quality assurance will be essential to the success of our organization.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

 

  • Comply with Safety Policies and Procedures  

  • Regular attendance, timeliness and scheduling flexibility 

  • Ensure a global view of our quality associates, systems and processes 

  • Ensure processes are effectively developed, implemented, and executed to guarantee that our products and services meet customer requirements/needs 

  • Ensure that quality organization processes and systems add business value through the execution and enhancement of the quality management system, customer complaint management processes, and performance monitoring processes 

  • Ensure that the Quality Testing Labs and R&D Labs are effectively meeting business needs related to the execution and enhancement of product performance testing 

  • Being an active and contributing member of the global quality team in pursuit of: 

  • Developing and implementing harmonized, strategic quality initiatives and defining success measures with the Plant team and measuring the success of divisional quality goals 

  • Driving cross functional efforts and supporting cross divisional quality practice integration  

  • Ensuring the overall effectiveness of the Quality System 

  • Creating and implementing quality processes to support the development of emerging businesses 

  • Leading and supporting the local team by: 

  • Driving adoption of functional excellence through team development, individual coaching and performance feedback using the various available tools 

  • Aligning and integrating the team to support divisional and functional business needs, and supporting global business partners 

  • Influencing and integrating quality practices into  business processes 

  • Driving continuous improvement locally, in alignment with global team practices and processes 

  • Communicating daily, weekly, and monthly quality KPI’s 

  • Being adept at driving change 

  • Ensuring resources are aligned with top priority needs.   

  • Determining and ensuring adequate resources for the quality organization (associates, systems, equipment) 

  • Modelling and leading in a culturally appropriate manner 

  • Maintaining an industry perspective, including current and future trends which impact the stone manufacturing business 

  • Supporting the sourcing team’s drive for supplier quality by providing the quality processes and metrics to meet business goals

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE 

The employee should have the following: 

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or other technical field

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in quality control, quality assurance, or continuous improvement

  • Minimum of 3 years' management or supervisory experience

 

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT 

The employee should possess the ability to: 

 

  • Be exposed to sounds or noise levels that maybe uncomfortable 

  • Withstand exposure to temperature extremes inside or out  

  • Prolong standing or in stationary position  

  • Complete repetitive movements 

  • Bend and/or twist  

  • Lift/move/transport items up to 50 pounds 

  • Ability to move or traverse about the facilities 

  • Ability to work around dust, chemicals, and other substances, and in various environmental conditions 

  • Wear all required personal protective equipment (hearing, vision and hardhat protection) 

 

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US markets. The base pay range for this position is $90K to $145K. This range is based on relevant market data in our lowest and highest geographic markets. Pay is based on several factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, experience and skillset. Westlake is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, sign on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package (also to include a full range of medical and other benefits).
