SUMMARY

Learn the role so that the Sales Representative can ultimately develop and maintain domestic water treatment products accounts in a territory in North America

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

May include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Works under the direction of the Field Sales Manager, Water Solutions, but operates independently on a day-to-day basis.
  • Participates in learning opportunities and activities that prepare the Sales Representative for successful account management at assigned accounts. This includes gaining product knowledge, understanding WS resources, and learning our processes. 
  • Develops a full understanding of our sales distribution channels and becomes knowledgeable of granular, industrial, and commercial aquatic applications. Cross-functional training will be provided to understand the scope, scale, and complexity of the organization and our customer’s needs.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with key purchasing people, owners, and front-line supervisors.
  • Develops strategy in conjunction with Sales and Market Management on new sales opportunities.
  • Executes assignments with limited supervision.
  • Works effectively with all internal work groups to accomplish sales objectives.
  • Participates in large and/or interdepartmental projects. Strong relationships with clients.
  • Forecast customer sales volumes annually and on a rolling 90-day basis.
  • Comply with all Company policies and procedures.
  • Fully supports Company goals of continuous improvement and operational excellence at strategic and tactical levels including reviewing area of responsibility for improvement opportunities to initiate projects or communicate ideas to management as well as active participation on project teams.
  • Any additional responsibilities or tasks as assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business or technical discipline required.
  • Minimum 2 years of work experience, preferably entry-level sales in chemicals-related field.
  • Knowledge of water treatment, commercial aquatics, or chemicals industry is a plus.
  • Possesses basic sales strategies, face-to-face selling skills, and specialized products or markets.
  • Positive work habits that are conducive to sales.
  • Strong organizational, inter-personal, and communication skill are a must.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.  The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate as normally based in an office.  Some of the work may be required in the operating units which can require usage of required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, etc.  May also result in exposure to outside elements and may require usage of stairs and elevators.  Travel up to 75% including air travel or auto travel.
