JOB SUMMARY

The Resource Technician coordinates lean and continuous improvement activities throughout the facility required for safety, process improvements, visual management, and training. This person uses lean manufacturing principles to implement change for a safe and efficient workplace. The responsibility of implementing lean processes and improvements is inherent to this position. This person works on cross functional teams with other company owned facilities, including internal Quality and Lean Managers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Comply with Westlake Safety Policies and Procedures
  • Ensure and evaluate site adherence to Westlake policies and programs
  • Participate in new hire/visitor safety orientation
  • Assist site management with implementation of lean processes
  • Develop job-specific lean/continuous improvement training to meet site needs
  • Provide technical advising in support of lean/continuous improvement activities
  • Maintain and promote continuous improvement programs/signage
  • Conduct Gemba walks and address findings with site management
  • Perform other duties as assigned or needed
  • Regular attendance, timeliness and scheduling flexibility 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Intermediate level in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong organizational skills, detailed oriented, self-motivated, and ability to multi-task
  • Strong professional communication skills, both oral and in writing
  • Ability to lead and coach others
  • Familiarity with lean principals, desired
  • Bi-lingual English/Spanish, preferred
  • Able to work Monday to Friday, 7am-3pm

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

The employee should have the following:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 1 - 2 years' experience in a relevant field

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

The employee should possess the ability to:

  • Prolonged standing or in stationary position
  • Complete repetitive movements such as typing
  • Be exposed to sounds or noise levels that may require hearing protection
  • Wear all required personal protective equipment (hearing, vision and hardhat protection)
  • Ability to lift/move/transport items up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to move or traverse about the facilities
  • Must be able to ascend/descend stairs or ladders
  • Ability to work around dust, chemicals, and other substances, and in various environmental conditions
