Sr. Paralegal
Job Description
SUMMARY
Serves as a key member of the legal team, primarily supporting litigation matters and legal operations projects.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
May include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Assist in-house attorneys in managing company litigation, including maintaining company’s litigation docket, issuing and tracking document preservation notices, and organizing and producing documents in connection with e-discovery.
- Maintenance and organization of electronic and physical litigation documents. Assistance with preparation and filing of court submissions. Preparation and maintenance of engagement letters with outside counsel.
- Assist with settlements and periodic accruals.
- Assist in-house attorneys and other corporate functions (e.g., finance, credit, accounts payable) to provide general corporate assistance.
- Assist with various projects, including, but not limited to, legal research, investigations, audit requests, intellectual property, invoices, and M&A.
- General office assistance with correspondence, expense reports, travel bookings, organizing meetings, etc.
- Fully supports company’s goal of continuous improvement, including reviewing area of responsibility for improvement opportunities,
- Work as a team member in the department, including assisting and providing back-up for other members of the department as needed.
- The successful candidate should possess excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, the ability to multi-task, a team-oriented mindset and strong work ethic and attention to detail. Efficiency and accuracy are extremely important. Overtime work is occasionally required.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- High school Diploma and paralegal certification required. Additional college or business school preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience working with lawyers, preferably in major law firm and/or in a corporation. Experience handling complex litigation and e-discovery is strongly preferred.
- Advanced experience with Microsoft Office Programs, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint; Outlook, Teams, Sharepoint, and Adobe Acrobat, including ability to create pivot tables, charts, presentations, and use other advanced features of these software tools.
- Must be proficient in e-discovery software
- Must have knowledge of Practical Law Connect and Westlaw
- Experience with matter management (e.g., Serengeti/Legal Tracker), entity management system (e.g., hCue), and similar systems is strongly preferred.
