SUMMARY

Supervise corporate accounting staff and functions to include coordination with plants regarding reporting issues, benefit plans and accounts, year-end audits with outside audit firms, and monthly reporting.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

May include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Review and ensure accuracy of accounting data input and reports.
  • Review reconciliations of GL and bank accounts.
  • Accounting for stock-based compensation.
  • Perform analysis of critical accounts and balances.
  • Prepare monthly internal reporting package for and distribution to Management.
  • Support SEC filings and the preparation of supporting reports and documents.
  • Work closely with outside audit firm on quarterly reviews and year-end audit.
  • Coordinate and provide accounting support for other departments.
  • Coordinate accounting of benefit plans and other monthly close matters with subsidiaries.
  • Help train professional staff in the areas of applied accounting theory, and logic.
  • Monitor and identify major performance areas for enhancement via automation.
  • Prepare bank reports and support bank audit.
  • Remain abreast of changes in currently accepted accounting principles versus the Company’s accounting methods to insure compliance and changes that may be advantageous to the Company.

  • Fully support Company goals of continuous improvement and operational excellence at strategic and tactical levels including reviewing area of responsibility for improvement opportunities to initiate projects or communicate ideas to management as well as active participation on project teams.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • B.S. Degree in Accounting or equivalent with seven plus years of progressive general and corporate accounting experience preferably with a large public company.  
  • CPA and/or MBA preferred. 
  • Knowledge of general and corporate accounting, and financial statement preparation is required. 
  • Previous supervisory experience desired.
  • Knowledge of computerized accounting systems including SAP and SAP BPC is critical to the position. 
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office including Excel (required)  

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.  The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate as normally based in an office.  Some of the work may be required in the operating units which can require usage of required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, etc.  May also result in exposure to outside elements and may require usage of stairs and elevators.  Travel up to 10% including air travel or auto travel.
