Millwright Apprentice

Join a leading manufacturer in the building products industry!  Westlake Royal Building Products is currently seeking a Millwright Apprentice to support our maintenance team. This is a great opportunity to grow your skills in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

 

 Compensation and Schedule

        Starting at $28.59 per hour for first-year apprentice, annual increases based on skill development and education progress

        Must be able to work all shift, including 12 hour continental shift

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

May include, but are not limited to, the following:

        Perform Preventive, predictive and breakdown maintenance activities and documentation as assigned on all equipment and machines throughout the plant in conjunction with daily production requirements.

        Repair or replace machinery parts; troubleshoot malfunctions; machine change over as required by production team; perform building maintenance and other maintenance tasks as required.

        Participate in equipment changeovers, when required

        Install and commission new machinery.

        Maintain hydraulic and pneumatic systems

        Perform weld repairs.

        Maintain orderliness of work area/shop floor.

        Additional duties as assigned by supervisory staff.

        Must participate in all ministry of education schooling sessions for the 443A millwright

 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

        High school diploma, GED or equivalent.

        Strictly Adhere to company health and safety procedures at all times.

        Registered as an apprentice through Ontario College of Trades. 

        Completion of schooling portion of apprenticeship is an asset.

        Welding ticket an asset

        Must have valid Driver’s License.

        Ability to work under the supervision of licensed millwright, as part of a team and independently in a busy environment.

        Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment.

        Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.

        Able to work well under pressure.

        Strong attention to detail.

        Fluent in verbal and written English relevant to technical journals and apprenticeship schooling

 

Preference will be given to second-year apprentices with relevant experience

 

Additional Requirements:

        Candidates must provide proof of apprenticeship registration as defined by the Ontario College of Trades

        Applicants will be assessed on mechanical reasoning, spatial aptitude, trade math, and communication skills
