SUMMARY
Accountable for overseeing all production and maintenance staff, ensuring achievement of Operational Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and driving continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, quality, and talent development.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
May include, but are not limited to, the following:
Production & Operations Management
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment, with a specific focus on safety within production areas.
• Direct hourly personnel and oversee manufacturing operations in the fittings department.
• Ensure optimal utilization of manpower and equipment to support efficient workflow.
• Delegate responsibilities effectively, recognizing and developing the talents of shift personnel.
• Represent production in company meetings as a recognized leader who leads by example.
Maintenance & Technical Oversight
• Supervise maintenance personnel and prioritize tasks within maintenance schedules.
• Perform comprehensive maintenance management, including preventive and predictive maintenance initiatives.
• Develop and sustain a robust preventative maintenance program in collaboration with engineering and maintenance teams.
• Monitor and manage manufacturing assets, equipment inventory, purchase orders, invoice approvals, and departmental budgets.
• Resolve safety and maintenance issues in coordination with management, engineering, and quality control teams, recommending improvements to equipment and operations.
Technical Leadership & Support
• Provide technical leadership to shift personnel, including line setup and operation, metric definition and reporting, testing, troubleshooting, and training facilitation.
• Spearhead projects that address current business challenges or contribute to long-term strategic goals.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives such as 6S, scrap reduction, and quality innovations.
Personnel Management & Development
• Lead personnel management efforts including recruiting, hiring, attendance tracking, safety training/reporting, performance reviews, counseling, corrective actions, and employee development/retention.
• Promote and support professional development opportunities for shift personnel.
• Facilitate safety training and conduct incident investigations and reporting.
Compliance & Availability
• Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures.
• Remain available for on-call support 24/7, including during emergency situations.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Min. 5-10 years manufacturing work experience, with some union, career progression, multiple shift operations (24/7).
- JHSC certified with evidence of strong background in managing safety
- Knowledge and experience in material control, engineering, quality and maintenance.
- Success in planning, executing and managing projects.
- Strong verbal & written communication skills
- Demonstrates excellent problem-solving abilities, and effective management skills.
- University degree preferable engineering or equivalent
- Knowledge of SAP/Oracle JDE is a plus
- Lean Six Sigma certification and continuous improvement.
- Proven track record for sustained continuous improvement projects and team building, growth and personal development
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate as normally based in an office. Some of the work may be required in the operating units which can require usage of required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, etc. May also result in exposure to outside elements and may require usage of stairs and elevators. Travel including air travel or auto travel may occasionally be required.
