SUMMARY
The Sales Account Manager is responsible for driving profitable sales growth across domestic and international healthcare accounts, with a primary focus on medical tubing, injection, and infusion applications. This role manages strategic medical customers across the United States, Mexico, and the Dominican Republic, serving as the primary commercial point of contact while collaborating closely with a global Center of Excellence (COE) based in Italy.
This position requires a strong understanding of medical markets, regulated healthcare environments, and complex account structures, along with the ability to communicate effectively across functions, geographies, and cultures. The Account Manager will operate as an independent contributor, while remaining highly integrated with global healthcare leadership, product management, operations, and supply chain.
Success in this role requires bilingual fluency in Spanish and English, strong commercial discipline, and the ability to engage confidently with labs, hospitals, distributors, and healthcare partners.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Serve as the primary point of contact for all matters related to assigned medical and healthcare accounts across the U.S. and international markets
Develop, grow, and maintain strong relationships with labs, hospitals, distributors, and medical customers
Drive growth of the medical portfolio, with emphasis on tubing, injection, and infusion solutions
Partner closely with Global Healthcare Managers and the Healthcare COE (Italy) to develop and execute strategic sales initiatives
Own territory and account strategies, including:
Product mix optimization
Margin improvement
Sales call cadence
Management and technical visit planning
Prepare and deliver monthly forecasts (FC), budget updates, and business plans (BP) to Global Healthcare leadership
Negotiate pricing in alignment with established policies and obtain approvals through Global Healthcare management
Communicate daily with customers regarding order status, forecasts, and evolving needs
Identify and perform due diligence for new direct and distribution opportunities
Coordinate closely with Supply Chain to ensure on-time delivery and proactive issue resolution
Work with Customer Service, Technical & Development (T&D), Product Management, and Operations to resolve customer complaints and technical issues
Maintain accurate customer master data, forecasts, and profiles in internal systems
Coordinate with Credit & Finance to review customer credit status and mitigate risk
Provide regular KPIs and performance reporting (monthly, quarterly, annual)
Participate in approved industry associations, conferences, and trade shows
Fully support continuous improvement initiatives and operational excellence at both strategic and tactical levels
Schedule and manage domestic and international travel as required
Perform additional responsibilities as assigned
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND QUALIFICATIONS
Required
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
Minimum 5 years of sales or account management experience
Proven experience managing healthcare or medical component accounts
Bilingual in English and Spanish (spoken and written)
Strong ability to work independently while collaborating in a global, matrixed organization
Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills
High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
Preferred
Master’s degree
Experience selling medical components, materials, or compounds
Exposure to international markets or global account structures
Experience working with labs, hospitals, and medical distributors
Familiarity with regulated or compliance-driven environments
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
Significant travel required, including domestic and international travel
Travel may exceed 40–50%, depending on customer and business needs
Must be comfortable traveling to customer sites, trade shows, and global meetings
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, and travel; use hands and arms; and communicate verbally and in writing. The employee may occasionally lift up to 30 pounds. Specific vision and concentration abilities are required, along with the ability to travel by car and airplane.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is primarily conducted in an office and field-based customer environments. Some customer or operating unit visits may require the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hearing protection, respiratory equipment, or protective clothing. Exposure to manufacturing or laboratory environments may occur.
